Crime Stoppers creates a powerful alliance between you, the media, and law enforcement. Your tips remain completely anonymous, and you can earn cash rewards when they result in an arrest. If you have information about a crime or recognize a suspect, your tip could make all the difference.?

How the Program Works

WE DO NOT WANT YOUR NAME, JUST YOUR INFORMATION.

• When you report a tip using the Crime Stoppers, you will be assigned a special a one-time identifier code. This is your only way to track your tip. We cannot provide it for you again.
• Once your information has been received, the Crime Stoppers staff notifies the appropriate law enforcement agency.
• If your information leads to an arrest, apprehension or prevention of a crime, you may become eligible for a cash reward.
• The Crime Stoppers Board of Directors makes the final decision on the reward amount.
• Because your anonymity is guaranteed, it is very important for you to retain the assigned identifier code to be able to collect the cash reward. If your tip leads to an arrest, you will be given instructions on how to collect the money.
• Crime Stoppers cannot process a reward until closure information is received from Law Enforcement

 

The process is simple and secure. You can submit a tip in one of three ways:

Important Reminder

Never reveal your name, phone number, address, or any identifying information. Doing so will disqualify you from receiving a reward.

 

Follow-Up Process

• You will use the code issued to you to check the status of your tip. It is your responsibility to remember and protect that code.
• When calling for updates on a previously submitted tip, please do not call more than once a month, as updates are only available on the 3rd Friday of the month.
• If your information leads to an arrest, apprehension, or crime prevention, you will receive instructions on how to collect your cash reward.
• Different types of crimes take longe to solve than others. It’s not unusual to wait some time in a particular case. A lot of times the tipster knows about the arrest before we find out from law enforcement.

 

Claiming Your Reward

• Check back monthly using your tip number to see if you qualify for a reward. Rewards are only approved once a month.
• Rewards typically range from $100 up to $3,000, depending on the severity of the crime, the number of offenders arrested and the number of offences cleared up.
• High-profile cases may offer larger rewards through special sponsorships.
• Rewards must be picked up within four months of the award date.

 

Structure and Funding of Crime Stoppers

Santa Rosa County Crime Stoppers is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. As such, the program operates independently from tax dollars and relies on the generosity of the community to continue its mission. NO TAX DOLLARS are involved.

 

• Providing financial oversight and guidance for the program.
• Approving Tips to be paid
• Managing the Crime Stoppers Trust Fund

The Board meets monthly to review cases, evaluate arrests, and determine the size of rewards to be paid, up to $3,000. Rewards are then distributed to the tipsters. Callers are eligible for rewards up to $3,000, but, despite this, many callers choose not to collect their rewards.? That is completely up to the tipster.

TERMS & CONDITIONS

To qualify for a reward from Santa Rosa County Crime Stoppers the following conditions must be met:

1. Information concerning a crime must be reported to the Crime Stoppers Program through one of the anonymous tip submission methods.
2. The person providing the information must remain anonymous.
3. Reward amounts are the sole responsibility of the Board of Directors of the Santa Rosa County Crime Stoppers Program.
4. Rewards are subject to revocation at any time without prior notice.
